Research at BHCNMT

Research culture at BHCNMT — student projects, faculty studies, areas of interest, and ethical guidelines.

Research at BHCNMT

Research is integral to modern nursing. At BHCNMT, we encourage faculty and students to engage with evidence-based practice, undertake structured projects, and contribute to the growing body of nursing scholarship in India.

Research Activities

  • Faculty Research — independent and collaborative studies on clinical nursing, community health, education, and quality improvement.
  • Student Projects — final-year B.Sc. Nursing students undertake supervised research projects as part of their curriculum.
  • Case Studies & Audits — clinical case studies, nursing-care audits, and quality-improvement projects in partner hospitals.
  • Community-Based Research — KAP studies, health-needs assessments, and health-education impact studies in rural and urban Kashmir.

Areas of Interest

  • Maternal, neonatal & child health in Kashmir
  • Mental health, stress, and coping among nursing students and clinical staff
  • Non-communicable diseases — diabetes, hypertension, cardiac care
  • Patient-safety, infection control & hand hygiene
  • Nursing education methodologies and simulation
  • Community health, immunization coverage, and adolescent health

Research Ethics

All research conducted at BHCNMT — by faculty or students — must adhere to standard ethical guidelines, including:

  • Informed consent of participants.
  • Protection of participant privacy and confidentiality.
  • Adherence to ICMR's National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical and Health Research.
  • Prior approval from the institutional research / ethics committee for studies involving human participants.

Publications & Conferences

Faculty members are encouraged to publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international nursing conferences. The college facilitates participation in:

  • Indian Nursing Council and TNAI conferences
  • State-level and university-level seminars
  • Workshops on research methodology, biostatistics, and scientific writing

Resources for Researchers

  • Library access to journals and databases (see Journals and E-Resources).
  • Mentorship by senior faculty.
  • Guidance on protocol writing, IRB submission, and dissertation formatting.
Research is what allows nursing to grow as a science. Every student who learns to ask, observe, measure, and reason adds something to the discipline.
